Blacktown City ready for Bentleigh test

FFA CUP

Lily Homes Stadium will be play host to one of the most intriguing Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32 matches as current IGA NPL NSW Mens 1 side Blacktown City FC host Victorian NPL 1 outfit Bentleigh Greens.

Mark Crittenden’s men have had an outstanding 2014 season thus far having already collected its first piece of silverware taking out the Waratah Cup final with a stunning 6-2 victory over fellow Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32 side Manly United.

Blacktown City have also been one of the standout teams in this season’s top tier NSW men’s competition.

Goals have been easy to come by and it has been thanks to the attacking services of Travis Major who has been leading the race in the Golden Boot category.

Major has been assisted greatly by the services of Japanese import Ruyji Miyazawa as well as the hard working efforts of midfielders Mitchell Mallia, Kearyn Baccus and Sasa Macura.

Defence has also been key to the club’s performances this year and have had Zac Cairncross, Jacob Poscoliero and Marco Travaglini who have been in great form for Crittenden’s side.

Blacktown City will face a stern test against the Greens who have also been in great form in Victoria’s top tier league.

Coach and former NSL sharpshooter John Anastasiadis has assembled a very crafty outfit who will be out to break Blacktown hearts in Sydney’s West.

The midfield trio of Liam McCormick, skipper Wayne Wallace and Davide Cardamone will be players to watch out for as well as striker David Stirton and flying winger Ryan De Vries.

The Greens have played some impressive attacking football and they will come up against NSW’s best in what will be a match not to be missed with the winner moving closer to realising their dream in playing apart in the final stages of the inaugural Westfield FFA Cup.
