PS4 NPL NSW Men’s 1 Grade 20s Round 2 Preview

Round two of the 2015 PS4 National Premier League NSW Men’s 1 Grade 20s takes place this weekend, with two matches late on Saturday afternoon and four on Sunday afternoon.
The match of the round this week will focus on Bonnyrigg White Eagles and Marconi Stallions, with both sides hunting their first win of the season.

Match of the Round
Bonnyrigg White Eagles FC v Marconi Stallions FC, 5.30pm Saturday, Bonnyrigg Sports Club
These two sides last met in round 18 of the 2014 season at Marconi Stadium, with Bonnyrigg picking up all three points courtesy of a goal from Alexander Doyle, and the Eagles will be hoping for a repeat performance as they look for their first points of the season after a narrow loss to Manly United in the first round.
Marconi couldn’t manage a win in their opening game either; goals from Ryan Peterson and regular threat Noah Chianese earning the Stallions a 2-2 draw with Parramatta FC. Both sides will be looking to improve this week to set their respective seasons on the right track, promising an exciting game.

Saturday

Blacktown Spartans FC v Rockdale City Suns FC, 5.30pm at Blacktown Football Park
The second Saturday match this weekend features Blacktown Spartans and Rockdale City Suns, with both sides hunting for their first win of 2014 after a disappointing opening round. The Spartans lost 9-1 to Sutherland Sharks, and will be looking to bounce back with a victory over a Rockdale side that was defeated 1-0 by APIA Leichardt last week. The Spartans won this fixture 6-0 last season, with Domenic Dileo scoring twice.

Sunday
Parramatta FC v Sydney Olympic FC, 1.00pm at Sydney United Sports Centre
Sydney Olympic began their season with a 3-1 win over South Coast Wolves at Belmore Sports Ground; midfielder Jason Madonis scoring twice. While Olympic will fancy their chances against Parramatta, a new team in the competition this year, the home side proved they were up for the challenge of the PS4 NPL NSW Grade 20s, managing a 2-2 draw with traditional big guns Marconi Stallions in their opening game of the season.

South Coast Wolves FC v Blacktown City FC, 1.00pm at Win Stadium
South Coast Wolves and Blacktown City met in the first round of the 2014 season, with Blacktown stealing a 1-0 win at Win Stadium, and both teams will be looking for the three points this weekend after a disappointing opening weekend of fixtures. The Wolves lost 3-1 to Sydney Olympic, while Blacktown conceded five at home in a wild 5-2 defeat to Sydney United 58; Juan Zapata and Jonathan Grozdanovski scoring the two consolation goals for their side.

Sydney United 58 FC v Sutherland Sharks 1.00pm at Sydney United Sports Ground
The Sharks undoubtedly put in the performance of the weekend with their 9-1 win over Blacktown Spartans, and Charles Lokolingoy, Brendan Curtis and Bai Antoniou will be looking to take their goalscoring form to the Sydney United Sports Ground on Sunday afternoon for their match against Sydney United 58. Lokolingoy scored four in the Sharks’ relatively easy win against the Spartans, though their defence will be tested by a Sydney United 58 side that scored five goals away to Blacktown City last week.
APIA Leichardt Tigers FC v Manly United FC, 2.15pm at Lambert Park
APIA began 2014 with a confident 1-0 victory over Rockdale City Suns, and will look to continue their winning start against Manly United in the late game on Sunday afternoon. Manly also recorded a 1-0 win in the opening round of fixtures, with Christopher Arditti scoring the only goal against Bonnyrigg at Cromer Park. Striker Scott Lachlan will be looking to get onto the scoresheet for the home team after impressing away at Rockdale last week; assisting teammate Zac Ribeiro for the winner.
