Round 8 of the PS4 NPL NSW Men’s 1 competition saw all but one player change in the Team of the Week.
Showing great character after an error, Rockdale City Suns goalkeeper Tomislav Arcaba was one of the best players on the park for Paul Reid’s side as they registered their first win of the season.
Jacob Tratt continued his good form as he earned his spot in defence for the second consecutive week, getting his name on the score sheet again. Blacktown City captain Zac Cairncross found himself in the team after a dominant performance at the back in a match where his side kept a clean sheet and took all three points. Perry Moustakas enjoyed a great return to the Shire as he picked up a goal in the Sutherland Sharks victory over Manly. Vital in defence and attack for Sydney Olympic, Brayden Sorge also earned his spot in a back four after his performance on Sunday afternoon.
Alek Jovovic’s man of the match performance and goal over the weekend saw him move into the midfield, while Blacktown Spartans Japanese livewire Futa Nakamura set up two goals on the weekend, also earning him a spot in the team. A busy Stephen Kayes ensured that APIA Leichhardt Tigers continued their strong start to the season and which earned him a place in the squad.
Joey Gibbs scored a brace as Blacktown City destroyed the Marconi Stallions on Saturday night. Blake Powell continued his amazing scoring run for APIA as he picked up his 11th goal of the season. Finally, Marko Jesic helped his side to their first three points of the year scoring two goals as Rockdale City moved off the bottom of the ladder.
