Team of the Week: Round 13
An interesting week of football with some surprise results in the PS4 NPL NSW Men’s 1 competition headlined Round 13.
Carlos Saliadarre earned his spot between the sticks after his weekend performance and clean sheet. The Blacktown Spartans gloveman has been one of the most consistent goalkeepers in the league, finding himself in the team of the week on various occasions this season.
Youngster Roberto Speranza helped himself to a place in the squad after playing fantastically in Parramatta FC’s defence as they kept a clean sheet over the weekend.
Adam Jenner seems to be enjoying himself in the back line for the Bonnyrigg White Eagles after putting up consecutive eye catching performances in the centre of defence, with his team coming up trumps in the local derby against the Marconi Stallions.
Like a true captain does, Ibrahim Haydar leads his team when things aren’t going as well as they should and despite his Sydney United 58 going down on the weekend, he was one of the teams shinning lights.
Kieran Paull possibly played his best game of the season on the weekend despite Manly United being on the wrong end of the scoreline against league leaders APIA Leichhardt Tigers.
The Sutherland Sharks put in a great performance to score a massive victory against Sydney United 58 and Lukas Stergiou put in a man of the match performance for his team. He was everywhere on Saturday night putting in an all mighty shift to earn himself a spot in the midfield.
Alex Canak has had some bad luck in front of goals in recent weeks but his persistence paid off on Saturday night as he scored a brace for the Bonnyrigg White Eagles in a big win for the team.
Since his return to Australia, Patrick Antelmi has continued to consistently improve every week. He was one of the standout performers for Blacktown City over the weekend, picking up a goal to reward his efforts.
Experience pays and Parramatta FC has a lot to owe to Juan Carlos Chavez who scored their lone goal in their weekend win to find himself in a front three.
Shu Sasaki has been a great find for the Blacktown Spartans this campaign and has been an important piece to their puzzle. He picked up another goal on the weekend that was enough for victory against the Rockdale City Suns.
If there’s one player that we’ve become used to seeing find the back of the net then it’s APIA Leichhardt Tigers’ striker Blake Powell who helped himself to another double over the weekend – that’s now an incredible 18 goals for the season thus far.
