D’Mello ready for Hakoah challenge

23 February , 2016 By Football NSW Leave a Comment

Hakoah Sydney City East Football Club enter the PlayStation 4 National Premier League NSW top tier men’s competition after gaining promotion for season 2016.

Having risen quickly through the tiers of NSW football in recent times, the famous former National Soccer League club will be looking to replicate their recent success in the top division.

New recruit Aaron D’Mello has transferred over from Bankstown City FC for this year’s campaign and has been extremely impressed by the current set up at his new club.

“The team bond is really good, it’s a really competitive atmosphere where everyone gets the best out of each other.” D’Mello said.

Having had to come up against his current team whilst he played for Bankstown City FC in last year’s PlayStation 4 National Premier League NSW Men’s 2 competition, D’Mello spoke of the challenges that teams will face when versing his new side.

“They were very competitive and intense, always fighting to win. It was always tough coming up against them when I was at Bankstown.”

Now sitting on the other side of the fence, D’Mello is extremely happy that he made the transition over to the Eastern Suburbs.

“Moving over to Hakoah has been really good for me.” D’Mello said.

“The opportunity to play in the top tier NPL competition in NSW was inviting, as well as being part of a competitive young squad which is the atmosphere that I always wanted to be in.”

Coach Mark Robertson was a major factor in why D’Mello signed with Hakoah for 2016 and the midfielder has been impressed with the way he has ran the squad throughout the pre-season.

“Mark is able to get the best out of the players, he was keen to bring me over after I played against them last year, he said.

It will be a big year for the club that will no doubt face a number of talented squads but D’Mello remained confident that Hakoah was able to achieve success in the new season.

“We’re just going to take every game as it comes and work hard and we’ll be able to achieve our goals.

“Of course it will be a challenge but if we all work hard it will all come together.”

Hakoah kick off their season against the Wollongong Wolves at WIN Stadium on Sunday March 13.
