Ray Miller has zero interest in the A-League

Ray Miller is sick of seeing history repeat itself.

The Bonnyrigg skipper, whose silky skills in midfield are a constant feature of the National Premier Leagues NSW men’s top tier competition, has accepted his days of potentially gracing the A-League have passed.

But in a scathing assessment, Miller questioned why the likes of Manly United’s Brendan Cholakian and Rockdale City Suns’ Blake Ricciuto don’t even get a look in.

“It is the question everyone wants answered,” the 28-year-old told Football NSW.

“How many times do you see the same players recycled at different clubs?

“Clearly our competition is not a pathway, even if it is touted that way.

“In my opinion, the A-League only has about three quality players per team – I don’t even watch it when it is on TV.

“Personally I have never been asked to trial for an A-League club – if they asked me tomorrow no chance, it doesn’t interest me now.

“But I feel for the guys younger than me who have ambitions to play at a higher level in Australia, it simply won’t happen.”

Miller did represent Sydney FC at youth level after starring for Blacktown City FC as a youngster.

He then moved on to neighbours Blacktown Spartans before a phone call from Brian ‘Bomber’ Brown saw him call Bonnyrigg Sports Centre home from 2015 onwards.

“It is a terrific place to be, with good people involved at all levels,” Miller said.

“I feel very humbled to be captain of this great club.”

Away from football, the man they call ‘Whiz’ paints houses and lives in the Blue Mountains.

The A-League might not want him, but Bonnyrigg wouldn’t swap him for anyone.
