Blacktown City came from behind to draw with the Bonnyrigg White Eagles on Wednesday night in a rescheduled round 14 game at Bonnyrigg Sports Ground.

The White Eagles came into this one having parted ways with long time head coach Brian Brown with Milan Susak coming in as the interim coach.

The home side got off to the perfect start as Jewook Woo headed in his eighth goal of the season.

Blacktown City roared back in the second period and found their equaliser midway through the second half as Dakota Askew found the back of the net.

Grant Lynch had the first chance of the game, connecting on the volley from the corner but his effort was straight at Chronopoulos.

Just after the half hour mark the home side had the lead.

Some fine work in the right corner by Bradie Smith and a neat pass had Tynan Diaz crossing to the far post as Jewook Woo rose again for the umpteenth time this season to head the ball home.

Mason Versi then had an attempt from distance on 40 minutes but his effort went wide of the top corner.

Versi was in the mood and on 45 minutes he had another attempt, with the same result as last time.

City came close after only two minutes of the second period when Devante Clut crossed for Joey Gibbs who emphatically tried to volley but his effort went wide.

Five minutes later Asmir Kadric showed some skill, beating his defender before not testing Prendergast.

Giorgio Speranza could’ve had Blacktown level in the 63rd minute but Chronopoulos made a fine save at the back post.

But five minutes later Blacktown had their equaliser through substitute Dakota Askew.

Joey Gibbs hit a free kick that Chronopoulos couldn’t hold, allowing Askew to tap the rebound home.

Five minutes from full time Ray Miller could’ve had all three points for the White Eagles but a poor touch let him down after a fine cross from Woo.

Bonnyrigg’s interim head coach Milan Susak was pleased with his team’s performance but disappointed they couldn’t take all three points.

“I’m happy with our performance, I thought we stuck to our game plan, remained compact and really frustrated them.

“They didn’t create too many problems for us and got a lucky goal which made it upsetting we didn’t get the three points.”

City coach Mark Crittenden was content with the full time result.

“Bonnyrigg Sports Ground isn’t an easy place to play, they had a new Gaffa tonight and Bonnyrigg were up for it.

“We conceded a soft goal and it was always going to be a battle from there, they got numbers behind the ball quickly and made it very hard for us.

“We tried to move the ball around, jagged a goal and we’ll take the point.”
