Palapanis energizes Olympic squad
Recently appointed Sydney Olympic coach Terry Palapanis has injected a new lease of life to the former NSL giants announcing a number of major signings with the 2020 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s season kicking off in March.
Former Sutherland Sharks stars Anthony Bouzanis, Bai Antoniou, Raul Beneit Romero and Alexander Lopez have reacquainted themselves with their former boss while former NPL NSW Men’s Player of the Year and ex-Manly United star Adam Parkhouse has also penned a deal with Olympic.
One signing in particular that has caught the attention of many in the NPL has been that of former A-League recruit and ex-Chelsea man Fabio Ferriera. The Portuguese high-flyer will call Belmore Sports Ground home after spending some time with South Australian outfit Adelaide City.
The club also moved swiftly to re-sign a number of its players from their 2019 squad including Spanish sensation Alejandro Sanchez, club legend Will Angel, skipper James Madonis, Hagi Gligor, Nicola Kuleski, Darcy Burgess, Jack Stewart, Zac Mackenzie, Tom Whiteside, Nik Tsattalios, Dimi Petratos, Bill Patramanis, Peter Kekeris and Giovanni Panuccio.
The club’s living legend Paul Henderson has decided to take a back-seat in 2020, although registered as a back-up to Bouzanis, has been appointed as the club’s official goalkeeper coach.
Palapanis and the Olympic faithful will be all systems go as the Blues hope to push for some much needed silverware with a juicy round 1 clash scheduled against 2019 Premiers Wollongong Wolves at Belmore on the 1st of March.
