Blacktown City FC have welcomed back two of its favourite sons in star strikers Travis Major and Sean Rooney with the dynamic duo hoping to emulate their 2014 Championship success at the club as coach Mark Crittenden prepares for the 2021 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s competition.

The two last played together with the club during the 2013 NPL NSW Men’s season.

Both epitomize the Blacktown City FC spirit and culture and will no doubt add spark, entertainment and excitement to Crittenden’s side.

Major, who is a couple of matches away from playing his 200th game for the club, returns to Australia after a successful footballing journey playing in the top league at Hong Kong where scoring goals was no problem for the 30-year-old while Rooney makes his comeback at Lily Homes Stadium after spending time with the Marconi Stallions and Mounties Wanderers.

“It’s great to be back at the club where I experienced so many great memories and played with so many quality players,” said Major.

“We are focused on playing a good brand of football as well as winning as many matches as possible hoping to bring back some silverware for 2021.

“It’s also a great feeling to be playing alongside some of the boys whom I’ve had the pleasure of playing with during my time at the club prior to leaving.

“Having a player like Sean back is fantastic for the club and I hope we can both spark up a good strike partnership where we will do whatever we can to cause as many headaches as possible for opposing NPL NSW Men’s sides.

“I personally am really looking forward to reigniting that rivalry against various NPL sides and players whom I’ve had battles within the past also, so bring on round 1.”

Major was on the verge of signing a professional contract abroad which was why the announcement signing with his beloved Blacktown City was delayed.

The club has also managed to resign its star goalkeeper Tristan Prendergast who returns after his time with the Western Sydney Wanderers while the club’s youth system continues to churn out future stars with Suley Bangura, Caleb Jackson, Carlos De Oliviera and Ben Berry all winning senior contracts.

Completing Crittenden’s squad, the likes of 2020 players Dakota Askew, Lachlan Campbell, Daniel Collins, Grant Lynch, Jackson Bandiera, Adam Berry, Mario Shabow, Rhett De Silva, Dylan Niski, Jak O’Brien and captain fantastic Matthew Lewis have also resigned.

Blacktown City opens it 2021 account with a tricky home fixture against APIA Leichhardt FC on Saturday 27th of February at Lily Homes Stadium (7pm).
