Marconi Stallions FC has raised $15,000 in the Balls for Balls Campaign for the NSW Cancer Council.

Saturday’s Round 10 NPL NSW Men’s match against Blacktown City was the culmination of the club’s Fund-Raising efforts for the NSW Cancer Council.

Over the last month, players from the boys and girls SAP and Youth Programs have been raising money for men’s cancer, in the Balls for Balls Campaign.

The boys and girls at Marconi Stallions FC have easily surpassed the target of $10,000 set at the start of the campaign. What an achievement by some special children.

Football Chairman Robert Carniato is extremely proud of the fund-raising efforts made by the boys and girls in the Football Program.

“This is an extremely important cause, raising money to help possibly save people’s lives, it’s a great reflection of the character and qualities these young people have.”

The Cancer Council were at the Stadium on Saturday with a stall next to the Canteen.

Coin collection boxes were located in the canteen, in the Corporate Boxes and at the front gate.

Volunteers went around and into the stands with a collection bucket for anyone wishing to donate.

The players who raised this unexpected amount of money were presented to the crowd at half time of the first-grade game.

As a thank you for their hard work and efforts each player was presented with a club scarf, and $20 voucher to Funland. The top four fund raisers also received a $25 Piazza voucher.

The Cancer Council presented each player with a beanie and certificate of recognition.

While members received free entry to the game, they were encouraged to provide a gold coin donation upon entry.

Football Office Administrator Josie Spinozzi has been the driving force behind the campaign

“Getting to the $10,000 mark is a fabulous outcome and the club is very proud of the efforts of the boys and girls who have helped to raise this substantial amount of money.

“In particular Cooper Chahine, Marko Flaiban, Kyden Salim and Daniel Di Giorgio deserve special praise for leading the way in our fund-raising campaign.

“The campaign was great for our players – it promoted sun safe behaviour, it helped to increase our players skills including juggling. Above all, it encouraged them to raise money for a most important cause “Josie Spinozzi added.

Denise Daynes Cancer Council NSW Community Co-Ordinator was delighted with the outcome of this new campaign.

“It is so refreshing to see Marconi Stallions put their hands up and jump on board with this fund-raising campaign. Most importantly, they are making a difference and saving people’s lives .

“Marconi has done a fantastic job in leading the way for other clubs who are now following your lead and joining in. I cannot praise the club enough for their efforts.” She added.
