Stallions commended in State Parliament
The amazing Fund-Raising efforts of Marconi Stallions FC Boys and Girls SAP and Youth Programs which totaled $15, 260 has been recognized in State Parliament.
Mr. Guy Zangari -Member for Fairfield – “ I recently met with M’s Denise Daynes and Sinilia Radijevoic from the Cancer Council to speak about the Cancer Council’s upcoming initiatives of the Biggest Morning Tea and Relay for Life . We also spoke about Cancer Council’s new initiative to raise money for men’s cancer support services , with the initiative being called the Balls for Balls Fundraiser.
This particular fund raiser is about getting friends together and playing a ball game.
It could be football, baseball or any other game involving a ball. At the same time, teams will be raising money for the Cancer Council to help support men who are affected by cancer.
This ball , so to speak, is well and truly rolling in the Fairfield area, with the Marconi Stallions being the front runners so far in this project, raising $15,000 to date.
Money raised through Balls for Balls will help fund vital research into men’s cancer as well as assist to support men with cancer at every stage.
The Cancer Council does a fantastic job in raising awareness about cancer prevention as well as providing support services for cancer patients.”
The boys and girls who raised most of the money were presented to the crowd at half time of Marconi Stallions home game against Blacktown City.
The players each received a scarves ,and $20 in tokens to Funland. Incredibly , six players raised more than $1000 each in four weeks.
The top fund raisers also received a $25 Piazza voucher.
The Cancer Council presented each player with a beanie and certificate of recognition.
The Cancer Council were at the Stadium with a stall to help educate and collect donations.
Football Chairman Robert Carniato is extremely proud of the fund-raising efforts made by the boys and girls in the program
