Manly United has wasted no time starting preparations for the 2023 NPL NSW Men’s season with 11 first grade stars agreeing to extend their stay at Cromer Park within the week following last Saturday’s Grand Final defeat to Blacktown.

Captain Jimmy Oates, star striker Bruno Mendes, experienced duo Kieran Paull and Dom Ferguson, defenders Alan Aganovic and Jesse Piriz, Kristian Santich and local juniors Tommy Fay, Ben Koop, Finn Ashton and Lucas Rainbird are the first 11 players to put pen to paper.

Incoming Manly United coach Patrick Zwaanswijk has made it the priority to sign current players before looking to strengthen the squad from outside the 2022 team that finished second in the League and fell one game short in the Grand Final against Blacktown City.

“I wanted to make sure we could keep as many players as possible from the team this year because I have watched many games and not only was the team successful but they played good football with excellent players,” he said.

“Manly is a stable club with a good culture and it is important to look from within first. We have had some very positive requests from quality players from outside the team and club but first we will focus on players from within our current squad.”

Manly United is still also in discussions with a number of current players and will make announcements as more players put pen to paper.
