Wolves ready for the David Carney era

National Premier League NSW Men’s side Wollongong Wolves will be eagerly anticipating the start of the 2023 season under the guidance of former Socceroos star David Carney.

The 39-year-old has taken the reigns as head coach of the Wolves hoping to push for silverware in his first season.

The former NSL club have gone through a few changes in their player roster but have managed to retain 8 of its players from the 2022 season including Japanese import Banri Kanaizumi, Lachlan Scott, Joshua Macdonald and Marcus Beattie to name a few.

The Carney era has brought in eight fresh new faces including former Marconi Stallions number one Nenad Vekic, former Rockdale Ilinden players Chris McStay and Alex Masciovecchio, ex-Tuggeranong United defender Harrison Buesnel and former Brisbane Roar and Wellington Phoenix attacker Mirza Muratovic to name a few.

Walter Scott has also made the move to WIN Stadium following his time at APIA Leichhardt while 23-year-old attacker Jake Trew has returned to his junior club following a stint with Blacktown City in 2022.
