The Central Coast Mariners have announced that their National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s and Head of Youth Development coach Luke Wilkshire has parted company with the club to pursue an opportunity with the Young Socceroos as an assistant coach.

Having joined the Mariners during the end of the 2022 Football NSW League One season, the ex-Socceroo led the Mariners side through NPL NSW Men’s pre-season as well as the first two rounds for this year.

Wilkshire chose to leave after receiving an offer to be part of the Young Socceroos as an assistant to Head Coach Trevor Morgan and Assistant Coach Brad Maloney for the AFC U-20 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2023, to be contested in March.

“I would like to thank Richard Peil and the entire Central Coast Mariners for understanding in my decision to pursue this opportunity with the Young Socceroos,” Wilkshire said.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Mariners and feel this is the next step in my development as a coach. I wish Rich, Monty and the whole Mariners family all the very best for the future.”
