Blacktown City’s win over league leaders APIA Leichhardt made it eight wins in a row for the reigning NPL NSW Men’s Champions.

“Critto (coach Mark Crittenden) sat us down and said it won’t be the first time this club has gone a 10 game unbeaten run,” said club stalwart Travis Major, just days before their Round 26 victory at Lambert Park.

“Earlier in the year, we were creating a lot of chances and results weren’t going our way.

“The last seven weeks we’ve found our groove.”

With the absence of a final series in 2023, Major suggested the run might not have come early enough.

“APIA, realistically, is a little too far away from us; I think we’ve left our run a little too late but if we can finish second, we’d be pretty happy with that.”

However, with the gap now cut to seven points with four games remaining and momentum on their side, Blacktown City might begin to dream of silverware in 2023.
