Sydney FC 2 v WS Wanderers 5 at Ilinden Sports Centre – Match Report and Highlights

It was the Western Sydney Wanderers who grabbed the derby spoils as the Red and Black defeated staunch rivals Sydney FC 5-2 at the Ilinden Sports Centre on Friday night to continue its fine form in the 2024 National Premier Leagues Men’s NSW competition.

The Sky Blues had to overcome conceding first yet again. They did so with aplomb when Tiago Quintal equalized in the 13th then an own goal by Doni Grdic gave them a 2-1 lead in the 28th minute before they were blown away in the second half.

Western Sydney Wanderers continued their strong start to the 2024 campaign being one of the teams to beat. Marcus Younis opened the scoring early before they were pegged back. Former FC star Zachary Sapsford levelled before half-time then strikes from Aydan Hammond, Ryley Hollingdale and another from Younis rounded out the win.

Wollongong Wolves 4 v Hills United 0 at WIN Stadium – Match Report and Highlights

Wollongong Wolves recorded their first home win of the NPL Men’s NSW season, convincingly defeating Hills United 4-0 on Friday night at WIN Stadium keeping their great recent run of form in tact.

Japanese ace Takumi Ofuka was the star of the show, notching a hat-trick.

Ofuka put the hosts in front just before the half-hour mark, and fellow countryman Banri Kanaizumi added a second eight minutes before halftime.

The crafty wideman scored two more goals later in the second half to round out a good night for the hosts in Wollongong.

Sutherland Sharks 1 v Marconi 2 at Seymour Shaw – Match Report and Highlights

It came the hard way but the Marconi Stallions continued its push for silverware following a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Sutherland Sharks at Seymour Shaw Park on Saturday.

After a disallowed goal from Marconi’s Cameron Windust in the 26th minute, Sutherland opened scoring in the 33rd minute through Jay McGowan.

Marconi managed to even the score in the second half through a Dylan Susovic finish in the 76th minute, but a sensational shot from Franco Maya saw the Stallions secure a late lead in the 84th minute, giving the visitors a 2-1 victory and a hard fought three points.

Central Coast Mariners 2 v Manly United 2 at Pluim Park – Match Report and Highlights

An exhilarating ‘Battle of the Beaches’ couldn’t be secured as a ‘victory’ for either Central Coast Mariners or Manly United FC, as the match ended in a 2-2 draw in what was an enthralling encounter at Pluim Park on Saturday.

A Luka Smyth brace from the spot looked to give the hosts their second victory of the season, before an 86th minute equaliser from Manly’s Benjamin Koop set up a grandstand finish in round six of the National Premier Leagues Men’s competition at Pluim Park on Saturday evening.

NWS Spirit FC 1 v St George City 2 at Christie Park – Match Report and Highlights

NWS Spirit FC’s tough season continued as St George City recorded a 2-1 victory in round 6 of the National Premier Leagues Men’s NSW competition at Christie Park on Saturday.

The loss saw David Perkovic’s troops remain at the foot of the ladder with the club yet to taste victory in 2024.

A game played with plenty of feeling, a Jason Romero penalty late in the first half gave them the points after both sides exchanged goals early with Kyle Shaw scoring for the hosts and Presley Ortiz for the visitors.

City finished up the match with ten-men as skipper Tarik Ercan saw red late on in the second half.

St George FC 2 v Sydney United 58 3 at Ilinden Sports Centre – Match Report and Highlights

Sydney United 58 appear to have reignited its 2024 National Premier Leagues Men’s NSW season following a tense 3-2 victory over St George FC in what was a thrilling display of football from both sides at the Ilinden Sports Centre on Saturday.

The match was an entertaining affair and provided five goals for the Saturday night faithful.

The visitors led all the way but were pegged back twice from two goals up to a solitary goal each time, to set up a real grandstand finish.

Patrick Antelmi and Matthew Hatch gave Sydney United 58 FC a two goal-lead at the break before St George FC got one back through Nikola Skataric. The visitors pulled way again through Carlos De Oliveira before Aedan O’Shea once again narrowed the margin for the home side.

Rockdale Ilinden 2 v Blacktown City 3 at Ilinden Sports Centre – Match Report and Highlights

The Round 6 National Premier Leagues Men’s NSW Match of the Round lived up to its expectations as Blacktown City FC defeated the previously undefeated Rockdale Ilinden 3-2 on a dank and dismal Sunday afternoon at the Ilinden Sports Centre.

Mitch Mallia got the goal scoring party started with a peach of a goal to open the scoring while the remaining goals were scored in the second stanza.

Joey Gibbs made it 2-0 before Brendan Cholakian pegged a goal back for the hosts to make it 2-1. Travis Major put in a great shift scoring his side’s third before Alec Urosevski scored with minutes remaining that set up a grandstand finish which the visitors held on and secured the three points.

APIA Leichhardt 2 v Sydney Olympic 0 at Leichhardt Oval – Match Report and Highlights

APIA Leichhardt have beaten Sydney Olympic with a strong 2-0 victory at Leichhardt Oval.

The home side secured a lead in just 25 seconds courtesy of an enterprising run and blistering finish from Jordan Segreto to continue his exceptional start to the season.

Both sides had chances to score following the early opener, with Sydney Olympic not capitalising on multiple good opportunities, and it was APIA who doubled their lead on the stroke of halftime, with Jack Stewart blasting home a stunning strike from range.

APIA did well to see the game out in the second half and gained another three points at Leichhardt Oval.
