McGowan believes in Sharks fighting spirit

With only a handful of matches remaining, the fight for survival is certainly heating up for the Sutherland Sharks to stay alive in the National Premier Leagues Men’s NSW competition.
One player leading the Sharks charge is crafty attacking midfielder Jay McGowan who has played a pivotal role in Sutherland’s recent revival.
Speaking exclusively on Kick-Off, the Football NSW official Competitions Podcast, the 23-year-old stated that the boys have enjoyed playing these pressure cooker matches week in week out as they hunt to stay alive avoiding relegation.
“I feel the boys are thriving with these must win matches, they’re all six-pointers and grand-finals to us and we hope to win as many as we can to keep us in the top-flight.”
Sutherland secured a crucial win against Manly United on Friday thanks to a late goal from Takahide Umebachi, but they still sit only three points above last-placed Sydney FC with four matches to play.
The team that finishes bottom of the table will be automatically relegated, while finishing 15th means a two-leg relegation play-off against the second best team from the Football NSW League One Men’s competition.
