The Central Coast Mariners secured a huge three points to keep its hopes of staying in the NPL Men’s NSW competition after scoring a 94th minute penalty thanks to Lucas Scicluna in their victory over relegation threatened Sutherland Sharks at Seymour Shaw Park on Saturday.
Sharks’ stalwart Mitch Stamatellis was deemed to have clipped Jai Rose inside the box, earning a yellow card for the action, allowing Mariners’ skipper Scicluna to remain composed and calmly slot home which ultimately gave his side the three precious points.
APIA Leichhardt FC 5 v Western Sydney Wanderers 3 at Lambert Park – Full Report and Highlights
APIA Leichhardt have returned to winning ways with an exciting 5-3 victory over the Western Sydney Wanderers at Lambert Park.
The Wanderers opened the scoring through Awan Lual, but APIA were quick to respond, with goals to Jack Armson and Jack Stewart putting them ahead in the 16th minute.
A response from Phillip Gigliotti then drew scores level once more, before Stewart promptly put APIA back ahead, with an early goal in the second half from Ben Gibson giving the home side a two-goal advantage.
In a topsy-turvy match, a goal from Gigliotti looked to bring the Wanderers back in the game, but an Alex Denmead finish secured a much-needed three points for APIA Leichhardt.
NWS Spirit FC 4 v Manly United 2 at Christie Park – Full Report and Highlights
A relentless NWS Spirit FC claimed a big three points with a 4-2 victory over Manly United 4-2 in round 27 National Premier League Men’s NSW action at Christie Park, Saturday evening.
It was a much needed three points for the hosts which moves them away from the bottom two for the time being, this one had a bit of everything in a thrilling encounter.
Benjamin Koop put the visitors in the lead in the 13th minute before Jacob Chidiac equalised midway through the first half. The hosts finished the half strong as Jesse Michel scored just before the break.
Zachary Cianci then put David Perkovic’s men further ahead in the 50th minute but Manly countered soon after as new recruit Presley Ortiz notched up his maiden goal for his new club.
It was to be a mere consolation as soon after that Jesse Piriz saw red following two cautions before Richie Darko completed the victory with a well taken goal in the 90th minute.
St George FC 0 v Marconi at Ilinden Sports Centre – Full Report and Highlights
The Marconi Stallions managed a 1-0 victory over relegation threatened St George FC at Rockdale Ilinden Sports Centre on Saturday evening, keep the tight race to the National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s Premiership.
It was one and done between the two sides, with an own goal from Nicholas Kalogerou the difference in the match.
St George City 3 v Hills United 1 at Penshurst Park – Full Report and Highlights
St George City continued its surge for a top six finals series spot defeating Hills United 3-1 further worsening the visitors plight to stay alive in the NPL Men’s NSW competition on Saturday evening at Penshurst Park.
The hosts blew away Hills United FC in the first half. Jesse Photi opened the scoring in the second minute then Kosta Petratos scored from the spot in the 19th minute then made it 3-0 in the 29th minute to round off the blitz.
Hills Custodian Ryan Wood did have a bright moment making a penalty save from Jason Romero in the second half then substitute Thomas Lopez made it 3-1 in the 81st minute but it was a mere consolation as the club continued its fight for survival.
Blacktown City 1 v Sydney Olympic 0 at Landen Stadium – Full Report and Highlights
Blacktown City have continued its run to embed itself into the top six and playing finals football following a thrilling 1-0 win over Sydney Olympic on Sunday at Landen Stadium, a victory that also put the brakes on the Blues’ run for a finals spot.
Playing in pristine conditions, both teams weren’t afraid to go all out for the win.
It was Danny Choi’s inside ball to Tyren Burnie in the 60th minute that separated both teams as City took all three points leaving Olympic with a mountain to climb in clinching a finals spot.

Sydney United 58 and Sydney FC have shared the points in a thrilling game that could’ve gone either way on Sunday afternoon at the Sydney United Sports Centre.
It was a tale of two halves, with the Sky Blues firing out of the blocks in the first half shortly before the hosts looked to run away with three points in the final 45 minutes.
The results sees Sydney FC remain at the bottom of the NPL NSW Men’s ladder, whilst United 58 maintain their spot in fifth place.
Wollongong Wolves 1 v Rockdale Ilinden 2 at WIN Stadium – Full Report and Highlights
Rockdale Ilinden took another big step towards the 2024 NPL Men’s NSW Premiership with a dramatic 2-1 win over Wollongong Wolves at WIN Stadium on Sunday.
Rockdale led early through So Kataoka before Christopher McStay equalised for the Wolves.
Deep into stoppage time Ilinden keeper Nick Sorras pulled out a huge save before Blake Ricciuto steered home a header to snatch the points for the visitors as well as keeping a six point gap between them and second placed Marconi.
