Following on from Rockdale Ilinden’s Premiership win came another accolade with their favourite son and one of the most feared marksman of all-time Alec Urosevski being crowned the 2024 NPL Men’s NSW Golden Boot winner for the second successive season hitting an impressive 31 goals in 30 league matches.
A record in itself, the ‘Baker’ played an integral role in Ilinden’s push for a Premiership, a feat they ended up accomplishing after a 40 long year wait.
The 30-year-old has quite simply lived and breathed Rockdale Ilinden and his amazing 31 goal haul has no doubt put him amongst the best, if not the best, striker to have played in the NPL in NSW.
It was his ninth Golden Boot award honour for Ilinden as he won the club’s own award in 2012 (8 goals) 2015 (10 goals), 2016 (8 goals), 2018 (10 goals), 2019 (10 goals), 2021 (12 goals), 2022 (20 goals) and of course 2023 (27 goals).
Regarded by many as one of the best players in Australia outside the A-League, its little wonder Rockdale Ilinden ensure they sign their prolific talisman season upon season.
Known as their greatest ever scorer as well as player with the most club appearances, its scary to think that Urosevski still has a few years left to further stretch his records both for his club and competition.
Football NSW would like to congratulate Alec on a magnificent season with the reigning 2023 Player of the Year recipient hoping he can add another Player of the Year award to his cabinet along with the Championship he has also stated would love to win along with his already Premiership coup.
