Urosevski crowned Player of the Year for second successive season
Rockdale Ilinden’s star striker Alec Urosevski has broken a Football NSW record in clinching back-to-back Player of the Year and Golden Boot awards following the 2024 Annual Gala Dinner held last Thursday at the Star Event Centre.
Urosevski completed the double in two years, something Football NSW has not seen in its history firstly taking out the Golden Boot scoring 31 goals whilst claiming the league’s finest award as the Player of the Year following a stellar season captaining the competition Premiers.
In other award categories St George FC claimed the Fair Play while Rockdale Ilinden took out the Club Championship.
In the Under 20’s category NWS Spirit FC attacker Noah Peacock picked up the Golden Boot award while Rockdale Ilinden’s Brae Ovens took out the Player of the Year.
The NPL NSW Goal of the Year award was met with some stunning goals, but it was Rockdale Ilinden defender Brayden Sorge who stole the headlines with his 16th minute stunner against Sydney Olympic FC in Round 10 of the Men’s competition. There were quality finishes witnessed from both the NPL NSW Men’s and Women’s leagues but as voted by the Football NSW Media department consisting of reporters and commentators, it was Sorge’s long range strike that sealed the accolade – a prize that went alongside his 2024 NPL Men’s Premiership medal.
APIA Leichhardt FC shostopper Anthony Bouzanis was rewarded for his efforts underneath the goalposts taking out the ‘Goalkeeper of the Year’ while Marconi Stallions’ Championship winning coach Peter Tsekenis took out the ‘Coach of the Year’.
