The Marconi Stallions secured a 3-1 victory over St George City FA at Marconi Stadium on Saturday night.

St George City opened the scoring in the 25th minute through Fumoto Kamada, but the Stallions managed an important equaliser from Damian Tsekenis in the 45th minute before the half-time break.

Marconi managed to secure the lead in the 64th minute through defender Anton Mlinaric before a final goal to Tsekenis saw the hosts take their tally to three.

The victory sees the Stallions take the top spot on the National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s ladder at least until Sunday’s matches are played.

Marc McNulty sent a shot towards goal in the 10th minute for the visitors which was parried away by Marconi ‘keeper James Hilton.

Kamada took a shot from the rebound that looked poised to go over the line but rebounded off the woodwork.

Nathan Roberts then tried his luck but his shot was deflected by Jake Trew, leaving the visitors without the opening goal after several chances.

The hosts had an opportunity to break ahead in the 12th minute as James Bayliss sent a ball into the back of the net, however referee Adrian Arndt was quick to blow the whistle for offside.

Domenic Costanzo broke forward in the 20th minute and sent a shot towards the target, but it was denied by the post.

St George managed to open the scoring in the 25th minute as Roberts sent a cross into the area and Kamada cleanly put it away.

The Scotsman managed to catch Hilton out of the goal but dribbled too far forwards and out of play.

A corner in the 45th minute gave the hosts a chance to even the score before the half-time break.

Costanzo sent the shot into the area and after a few touches in the area it landed at the feet of Tsekenis who was able to tap it into the netting to get the hosts on the scoreboard.

A free kick in the 64th miunte gave the Stallions gthe opportunity for their second of the match.

Costanzo sent his effort into the area, which was headed by St George to Mlinaric at the edge of the box.

Substitute Matej Busek sent a great ball through to Marko Jesic in the 88th minute to create another goal-scoring opportunity for the Stallions.
