Let’s check out the mini reviews from Round 16 of the National Premier Leagues Men’s NSW competition.

Sydney FC 2 v NWS Spirit FC 0 at Ilinden Sports Centre – Full Match Report and Highlights

Sydney FC put out a warning shot to the rest of the competition with a professional 2-0 win against NWS Spirit FC on Friday.

On a cold night at the Ilinden Sports Centre, goals from Taye Headley in the 55th minute and substitute Marin France in the 88th minute were enough to see off one of the contenders for the crown this season.

Sutherland Sharks 1 v Sydney United 58 2 at Seymour Shaw – Full Match Report and Highlights

Sydney United 58’s Matthew Hatch was the hero as his 87th minute goal turned out to be the match winner in his side’s 2-1 victory over the Sutherland Sharks on Saturday at Seymour Shaw.

It was the hosts who took the lead with a quality strike by Ikko Ehode Arimoto in the 14th minute before Mason Wells restored parity with a nice goal of his own minutes after.

The game looked destined for a draw until a Hatch strike three minutes from time broke Sharks hearts as the Reds marched onto victory.

Mt Druitt Town Rangers 1 v Western Sydney Wanderers 2 at Popondetta Park – Full Match Report and Highlights

The Western Sydney Wanderers secured a 2-1 victory over a 10-man Mt Druitt Town Rangers on Saturday night at Popondetta Park.

After the high of breaking ahead in the 42nd minute through Lachlan Vasiliou, the Mt Druitt Town Rangers’ luck turned as they dropped to 10 men with the departure of Pedrinho minutes later.

The Wanderers took advantage, levelling the score through Awan Lual in the 55th minute before taking the lead in the 74th minute through Edmun Haddad.

The points will be incredibly valuable for the visitors as they look to move clear of the relegation zone in the second half of the National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s season.

Wollongong Wolves 0 v APIA Leichhardt 2 at WIN Stadium – Full Match Report and Highlights

Two second-half goals helped APIA Leichhardt overcome Wollongong Wolves 2-0 on Saturday night at WIN Stadium.

Presley Ortiz opened the scoring soon after halftime, before a sensational long-range effort from captain Adrian Ucchino secured the points for the visitors.

St George City 1 v Rockdale Ilinden 4 at Penshurst Park – Full Match Report and Highlights

Rockdale Ilinden continued to be one of the most in-form teams in the competition with a comprehensive 4-1 away win over St George City in the local derby played at Penshurst Park.

A brace to Alec Urosevski plus goals to Brendan Cholakian and Moudi Najjar were the four strikes for Paul Dee’s men, while Cody De Godoy struck for the home side.

It is now eight matches without defeat for Rockdale Ilinden in what is proving to be an ominous warning to all other teams as they strive to make it two premierships in a row, but for St George City it is now two consecutive defeats after going through a wonderful five-game unbeaten streak.

St George FC 2 v Sydney Olympic 0 at Barton Park – Full Match Report and Highlights

St George FC came away 2-0 winners over Sydney Olympic courtesy of a resilient defensive performance and a Jaden Casella double at Barton Park on Saturday evening.

Casella put his side in the lead as early as the third minute before completing his brace midway through the second half as the Saints hung on albeit with ten men for the last ten minutes following a send-off to Mark Rodic.

It was a valuable three points for the hosts who leapfrogged Olympic on the ladder as the Blues’ indifferent year continued with Labinot Haliti’s squad that many tipped would challenge for the crown, slipped to its sixth loss of the season.

Blacktown City 0 v Marconi 2 at Landen Stadium – Full Match Report and Highlights

Marconi Stallions have extended their lead on top of the NPL Men’s NSW ladder following a tense 2-0 win over Blacktown City at Landen Stadium.

The Marconi Stallions were mostly in control of the first half, keeping the ball firmly in their area despite a seemingly sturdy Blacktown City defence and were rewarded in the 27th minute by a goal from Damian Tsekenis.

Blacktown City attempted a comeback in the second half, but a stunning Franco Maya goal late on was enough to secure the win for Marconi Stallions 2-0.
