Wollongong Wolves FC have confirmed that head coach Warren Grieve has officially stepped down from his position, with the decision made mutually between Warren and the club late last week.

While his tenure was brief, Warren brought a wealth of experience and a high level of professionalism to the Wolves during his time in Wollongong.

As an AFC Pro Licence coach, his influence was felt from the senior team through to the youth system, helping to shape a high-performance environment and leaving a positive mark on players and staff alike.

Warren’s departure was finalised on Friday, prior to the team’s weekend victory over St. George, a match led by assistant coach Julio Miranda, who will continue in the role as interim head coach for the remainder of the season.

In a personal message to the club, Grieve said.

“It’s with a heavy heart that my time at Wollongong Wolves has come to an end after only a short period.

“It has been an absolute pleasure and privilege to have been given the opportunity to work with such an outstanding group of people, both players and staff. The culture and environment in the changing room is one of which I was incredibly proud to be a part of.

“I have never underestimated what football means to the Illawarra region and what impact Wollongong Wolves can have on the national stage.

“I would like to thank Tory and the Board, and I wish the club every success for the future.”

Grieve also noted that the commute from North Sydney ultimately proved unsustainable.

“Ultimately, the significant travel commitment from North Sydney proved too difficult to manage long-term with my personal and professional responsibilities. While it was a tough decision, I felt it was the right one for both myself and the club.”

The club extends its sincere thanks to Warren for his contributions and wishes him every success in his next chapter.

An update on the club’s long-term coaching structure will be provided at the conclusion of the season.
