Home comforts suit Mariners as Olympic thwarted maximum points

The Central Coast Mariners shared points with Sydney Olympic with a 1-1 draw at Pluim Park on Sunday afternoon to continue its hopeful escape from relegation in the National Premier Leagues Men’s NSW competition while the Blues cling to a top six spot.
A penalty conversion from Teng Kuol in the 64th minute gave the visitors the advantage in the 64th minute after a goalless first half, but the Mariners managed to secure an equaliser in the 76th minute through Shumba Mutokoyi.
Despite plenty of opportunities at both ends of the park over the 90 minutes, the final whistle blew with a goal a piece between the two sides in Round 23 of the National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s competition.
A corner gave the visitors a promising opportunity in the 23rd minute as Adam Parkhouse swung a ball into the area, but Cyrus Dehmie guided it outside the sticks.
Dehmie was back in action moments later, sending a ball into the area for Dylan Ruiz-Diaz, whose touch sent the ball into the skies.
Jack Armson sent the ball back in for Ruiz-Diaz but his shot dribbled straight to Mariners ‘keeper Joel Wade.
Dehmie was brought down on the edge of the 18-yard box in the 26th minute, giving Olympic the perfect chance to take the lead in the match.
Dehmie struck the ball towards the target but it flew high over the crossbar.
Parkhouse blazed forward in the 31st minute, sending a confident strike towards the goal but it skewed high.
Seth Clark played a ball to an on-running Dehmie in the 45th minute, leaving Dehmie one-on-one with ‘keeper Wade, but his effort took a deflection from Wade and skewed wide of the target.
Parkhouse’s speedy run forward in the 54th minute saw the visitors come close but Wade knocked the strike out of contention.
Jai Rose sent a strike towards the goal in the 60th minute but he sent his shot just left of the goal.
A handball inside the area gave the visitors a chance in the 63rd minute.
Kuol stepped up to the spot and sent his penalty shot into the netting to open the scoring in the match.
Rose created an attacking chance for the Mariners in the 73rd minute, cutting across into the area for McKibbin to pounce on and fire at the target, however it grazed Ziggy Gordon on the way through and flew over the goal.
The hosts managed to level the score after a chaotic moment in the 76th minute.
A corner from Jablonski brought the ball into the area, which was headed away by Gordon.
McKibbin sent the ball back into the area and Mutokoyi sent it towards the target, bouncing off the crossbar and over the line as the Mariners cried for the goal.
Rose headed the rebound towards the netting and it bounced off the woodwork while referee Adrian Arndt blew his whistle to solidify the goal.
The Mariners tried their luck at another in the 80th minute from a corner but Olympic custodian Jack Gibson managed to collect.
Olympic came close to taking back the lead in the 81st minute, with some crucial defense on the goal line from the Mariners keeping the visitors at bay.
Rose swung a free kick into the area in the 90th minute for substitute Noah Peacock to head towards the target, but Gibson managed a fantastic save to deny the goal.
The hosts had another opportunity to take the lead late in the game as Jablonski lined up a free kick in prime position, but sent the shot straight to the hands of Gibson.
