Western Sydney Wanderers have secured a crucial 2-1 win over Sydney FC in front of an active crowd at Rockdale Ilinden Sports Centre on Friday night.
It was two early goals from Awan Lual and Julian Cop that put Wanderers in the driving seat, and the visitors remained with a firm hand on the three points, remaining resolute and disciplined without the ball.
A penalty for Mathias Macallister, which was scored clinically, was Sydney’s only major chance of the game, and the Wanderers held on to pick up an important victory in their bid to avoid NPL Men’s NSW relegation.

NWS Spirit FC hit the headlines in a huge way embarrassing Rockdale Ilinden 6-3 in a massive statement victory at Christie Park in a win that saw David Perkovic’s side move to top of the NPL Men’s NSW ladder.
The hosts were ruthless scoring four unanswered goals as Yu Okubo bagged a double while Jordan Perez and Takumi Ofuka got on the scoresheet.
Ilinden came out of the sheds a little better in the second period as Jerry Skotadis and Moudi Najjar scored before Michael Konestabo put the breaks on a comeback before Ofuka rounded up his second of the match.
Brendan Cholakian grabbed a consolation goal but it was to be too little too late as Spirit celebrated a massive win as well as top spot on the ladder on goal difference following Marconi’s loss to St George City.

Two second-half goals secured Wollongong Wolves a 2-0 win over Manly United on Saturday evening at Macedonia Park.
Despite creating opportunities in the first half, the Wolves went into the break level with United.
Nicholas Olsen opened the scoring just before the hour mark, and Marcus Beattie sealed the victory in the final 10 minutes.
St George City 2 v Marconi 1 @ Penshurst Park – Full Match Report and Highlights
St George City toppled NPL Men’s NSW league leaders Marconi Stallions to keep their dream of a finals place alive following a come from behind 2-1 victory at Penshurst Park on Saturday.
After Marconi re-took the lead in the Premiership race last week, they couldn’t back it up in this difficult fixture away from home against St George City who came into this match fired up after winning the St George derby last time out.
Marconi took the lead thanks to a Franco Maya penalty in the first half but St George City who had the better of the chances struck back in the second stanza through goals to Lewis Miccio and Marc McNulty that sealed a huge win for Manny Spanoudakis’ side.
Sutherland Sharks 1 v Blacktown City 2 @ Seymour Shaw – Full Match Report and Highlights
Sutherland Sharks’ woes continued at Seymour Shaw Park on Saturday night as they suffered their 14th loss of the 2025 NPL Men’s NSW campaign going down 2-1 to Blacktown City as the Shire club’s fight from the relegation zone continued.
City opened the scoring through Lachlan Campbell midway through the first-half with a great header before a quality strike by Adam Berry just before the half-time break gave the visitors a great lead.
Maki Petratos made an instant impact off the bench scoring early in the second half but a second yellow card soon to Lachlan Fields soon after burst the hosts bubble as City managed the game perfectly running out victors.
Sydney Olympic 1 v Mt Druitt Town Rangers 2 @ Belmore Sports Ground – Full Match Report and Highlights
Mt Druitt Town Rangers have given their survival chances a major lift with a well-earned 2-1 away win over Sydney Olympic.
The Rangers were spurred to victory by Caleb Jackson-Brown, who grabbed himself a goal and provided the assist for Yuta Komura, with Olympic’s Michael Vakis scoring what proved to be a late consolation.
APIA 2 v Sydney United 58 2 @ Lambert Park – Full Match Report and Highlights
APIA Leichhardt and Sydney United 58 have drawn 2-2 in an exciting NPL Men’s NSW match at Lambert Park.
It was the away side who opened the scoring 31 minutes in with a clinical strike from Carlos De Oliveira, before Finn Ballard McBride made it two just after half-time.
However, APIA responded with two goals in two minutes – from Rory Jordan and Presley Ortiz – to draw scores level, and both sides took a point from the Round 24 clash.

The hosts went 2-0 down early on, however thanks to an impressive double from skipper Michael Paragalli, the Mariners completed their comeback in style as they looked to pile some pressure on Sutherland Sharks and Western Sydney Wanderers in a bid to drag them into the relegation zone.
