St George FC extended their unbeaten start to 2026 with a dramatic 1–0 victory over Manly United at Barton Park, thanks to a stoppage-time strike from super-sub Harrison Farrow.

The result keeps St George FC’s defensive record intact, as they remain yet to concede a goal in the NPL Men’s NSW, while Manly suffered their second consecutive defeat following last week’s loss to Sydney United 58.

The match was end-to-end from the outset, with the first real chance falling to the hosts in the 13th minute when Justin Poon was denied by a spectacular save from Mackenzie Syron. Manly responded shortly after, with Kakeru Ono testing the side netting, and both teams continued to create opportunities throughout a frenetic first half.

Chris McStay, Ayumu Kimura, and Stephan De Robillard all came close, while St George had a double chance before halftime, including a near-miss from Poon and McStay, keeping the scoreline locked at 0–0 at the break.

The second half saw a frantic start, with Jaden Casella twice denied by Syron in one-on-one situations, and St George’s attacks repeatedly blocked by heroic defending from Aaron O’Driscoll. Manly also had chances, including a powerful drive from substitute Troy Danaskos that was superbly tipped over by Syron.

However, the deadlock was finally broken in stoppage time. A precise through ball from Danaskos found Farrow, who calmly slotted a diagonal shot past Syron to seal the victory.

Post-match, St George coach Raphael Marie praised his team’s work ethic and defensive resilience, noting the importance of staying focused against a talented Manly side.

“It’s fantastic that we are not conceding goals,” he said.

“We could have scored more, but we were relentless and justice came our way with Harrison’s goal at the end.”

Meanwhile, Manly United coach Vladimir Knezevic acknowledged the disappointment but highlighted the positives in his team’s performance.

“It was a tough game for both sides. We made a few small mistakes that cost us, but overall we played some good football with intensity,” he said.
