Sydney Olympic and David Magrone Part Ways as Club Makes Coaching Change

The National Premier Leagues Men’s NSW competition has recorded its first coaching change of the season, with Sydney Olympic FC and head coach David Magrone mutually agreeing to part ways with immediate effect.
Magrone’s departure comes during a challenging period for the club, with Sydney Olympic acknowledging his professionalism and contribution throughout his tenure.
“David joined the club during a transitional period and has worked professionally throughout his time at the club,” Sydney Olympic said in a statement.
“The club thanks David for his commitment and wishes him well for the future.”
The club has moved quickly to appoint Michael Melito as interim head coach, with assistant coach Graham Forbes also stepping into a key role to ensure stability and continuity for the remainder of the campaign.
The appointment of Melito and Forbes is aimed at providing immediate direction as Sydney Olympic looks to steady its season and remain competitive in a tightly contested NPL NSW Men’s competition where the former NSL giants currently sit at the foot of the ladder.
The club also called for unity among its members and supporters as it navigates the transition.
“We thank members and supporters for their backing and request continued unity moving forward,” the statement read.
The change marks the first managerial shift of the season in the NPL NSW Men’s competition, underlining the early pressure building across a highly competitive league.
