Sharks humbled by Hakoah Sydney City East brilliance

A sublime performance from Hakoah Sydney City East FC has secured a 4-0 PlayStation®4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s competition win against Sutherland Sharks at Seymour Shaw.

A brace from Anthony Frangie, as well as strikes from Aleksandar Lekoski and Harry Jones, downed the Sharks who are still searching for the first victory of the season.

Chances were tough to come by during a tense first half.

Sutherland almost created an early chance when Joshua Da Silva nodded an effort against the defender before it trickled wide.

Tomohiro Kajiyama went even closer for the hosts in the 21stminute.

From a free-kick, the forward struck his low effort against the post.

Hakoah Sydney City East FC worked their way into the contest as Andre De Jong slid an effort just wide of the post in the 26thminute.

The visitors opened the scoring just after the half hour mark.

Anthony Frangie showed guile to cut inside and crash an effort against the post.

Frangie kept the pressure on and got his reward as he fired the rebound past Sharks keeper Nathan Denham.

For the Sharks, Kajiyama was the outlet for most of their chances in the first half.

He had a pair of chances to restore parity but they both fell harmlessly wide.

Hakoah Sydney City East doubled their advantage ten minutes into the second half.

De Jong combined with Aleksandar Lekoski for the latter to tap home from close range.

Hakoah wrapped up all three points in the 74th minute when Frangie stabbed home in the box for a commanding 3-0 lead.

The visitors continued to pour on the pressure as substitute Harry Jones added a fourth in the 87th minute after Lekoski’s effort was saved.

A jubilant Hakoah Sydney East FC coach Gavin Rae was happy with the second half onslaught.

"It was the professionalism from the side and the fact we kept a clean sheet which has me delighted the most, Rae said.

"Our use of the ball in the second half was better after I told the boys to take care of possession."

A disappointed Carlos Villazon lamented his side’s capitulation.

"I think we did well in the first half, created a few options but one mistake and we conceded," he said.

"The problem was we needed to be smarter with the ball and we allowed Hakoah to play on the counter."
