Football NSW Statement: Rockdale Ilinden FC v Sydney United 58 FC

Following the incidents that occurred at the match between Rockdale Ilinden FC v Sydney United 58 FC on Sunday, 25 April 2021 at Rockdale Ilinden Sports Ground, Football NSW is today imposing the following measures

  • home matches of Rockdale Ilinden FC and Sydney United 58 FC will take place without home and away spectators; and
  • away matches of Rockdale Ilinden FC and Sydney United 58 FC will take place without away spectators.

The above measures will remain in place until the investigation into the incidents is completed and outcomes determined.

These measures apply to NPL NSW Men’s 1st Grade and U20’s, and FFA Cup matches.

An external, independent investigator has been engaged to review the incidents and propose any charges.

Football NSW is liaising with Football Australia regarding possible national and international sanctions against individuals that were involved in the incident.

Separately, Football NSW and both Clubs are continuing to assist the Police with their investigation.

Football NSW reminds everyone of the importance of providing a safe environment for spectators, players and officials and that Football NSW has a zero tolerance policy towards violent behaviour.
