Scott Balderson calls it a day
Known to many as being one of the National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s characters and stars of the game, Manly United’s Scott Balderson announced that the 2021 season was to be his last for the club.
The 31-year-old, who commenced his football journey with local Manly Warringah Football Association club Wakehurst SC before joining Manly United as a junior, has since been a popular cult figure at Cromer Park.
Having played as a youth player then coming back to Manly in 2010 following his time playing abroad in the U.K, Balderson paid glowing tribute to the club that he had the pleasure of playing with for quite some time.
“The club has been such a massive part of my life,” Balderson stated in the club’s official press release.
“I’ve got so many amazing memories from scoring my first goal 22 years ago on Cromer 1 to winning the NPL NSW Men’s Championship in 2017.
“There are a lot of people to thank for my time at the club.
“I’ve made lifelong friendships and I’m so excited to see this great club keep progressing in the way it is.
“It’s such an exciting time for everyone involved down at Cromer, so much hard work has been put on and off the field and it’s really starting to pay off.
“Not being on the field next season will be a strange feeling, however I’m very much looking forward to enjoying the next chapter of life and supporting the boys and the club from the sidelines.
“Manly will always be such a big part of my life, for many more years to come.
“Good luck to all the teams next season and see you all down at Cromer in 2022.”
Rest assured, even though the charismatic midfielder has hung up the boots, don’t be surprised if we see him pop up at one of the Manly Warringah Football Association clubs in 2022.
