With the mid-season National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s transfer window opening this week, Premiership title hunters APIA Leichhardt FC have re-secured the services of their star attacker Jason Romero for the remainder of the season.

The 28-year-old kicked off the season with APIA before moving off to A-League Men’s side Macarthur FC where he played five matches and scored his debut goal against Melbourne City.

Prior to his early season move to Macarthur FC, Romero hit the back of the net four times for Franco Parisi’s squad.

His presence in the APIA attack will only further boost their chances of silverware as he will once again link up with the likes of Jack Stewart and Jack Armson – the latter leading the club’s scorer’s charts with nine goals for the year.

APIA, who also made this year’s Australia Cup Round of 32 , are currently locked in a three-way battle for the 2023 NPL NSW Men’s Premiership alongside rivals Marconi Stallions and Rockdale Ilinden all of which have 41 points but do have a game in hand against the Mt Druitt Town Rangers.

“We were excited for Jason when the A-League call up came,” said APIA Leichhardt FC General Manager Matteo Maiorana.

“It’s credit to the fantastic squad that we have though, that we continue to sit on the top of the table even after losing a player of Jason’s quality.

“We stayed in regular touch with Jason since his move to Macarthur and we had no doubt if he was able to return to the NPL once the transfer window opened, that he would return to Lambert Park and once again prove why he’s one of the most exciting goalscorers in the competition.

“With the club still in the Waratah Cup, Australia Cup Round of 32 and still fighting for the Premiership, the inclusion of class that Jason brings comes at the perfect time.”

Romero is expected to line-up in APIA’s Round 21 clash against the Sutherland Sharks this Saturday at Lambert Park (5:45pm kick-off).
