There are football clubs — and then there are football homes.

As the 2026 National Premier Leagues Men’s NSW season dawns, Sydney United 58 FC opens its gates not only to the future, but to the men who helped build the road that led the club here.

As part of the club’s Round 1 season opener, Sydney United 58 will welcome back a distinguished roll call of former players and servants whose boots, belief and backbone have shaped the club from the 1970s onward. These are names etched not only on team sheets, but into the very fabric of the club — custodians of the badge across generations.

From trailblazers of the old NSL era to stalwarts who upheld the United way across suburban grounds and grand finals alike, their collective contribution spans decades of Australian football history.

Club legends including Velimir Kupresak, Branko Culina, Manis Lamond, Joe Vrkic, Abbas Saad, Mile Sterjovski, Mark Bosnich, Paul Bilokapic, Steve Watson, David Rezo, Bruno Vidaic, Peter Markovic, Richie Plesa — among many others — will return to Edensor Park, not as opponents of time, but as its witnesses.

This gathering is not about nostalgia. It is about continuity — a reminder to the next generation that football clubs are not built in a season, but across lifetimes.

Adding to the occasion, the club is honoured to confirm that Federal Member for Fowler, Dai Le MP, will be in attendance, joining the Sydney United 58 community as the club marks the beginning of another campaign grounded in tradition and aspiration.

As has become customary at the Sydney United Sports Centre, King Tom Club will once again provide the heartbeat of the matchday experience.

Entertainment will begin from 2:00pm, with DJ Dave Austin officially spinning the club into the 2026 season before the first ball is kicked.
