Mt Druitt and APIA ready for Wednesday night battle
Three precious points will be up for grabs this evening as the Mt Druitt Town Rangers host APIA Leichhardt at Popondetta Park where you can expect fireworks and action between two highly competitive National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s sides.
This match was supposed to be the opening fixture of the 2022 NPL NSW Men’s competition but the poor weather that hit Sydney two weeks ago cancelled this match.
Round 2 saw both clubs engage in their first games for 2022 with APIA claiming a 1-0 victory over Manly United while the Rangers went down 4-2 in their local derby against Blacktown City.
Stewart Montgomery’s men will have the tighter turn around having played on Sunday afternoon and will use their derby loss as extra motivation to get the season back on track with victory against APIA.
Jack Stewart has been the main man for the Rangers for the last two seasons and will once again be looked at as the one to watch out for this evening.
The Rangers are littered with some quality stars that, on their day, can change the game at any given moment. The likes of Bul Juach, Fumoto Kamada as well as the experience of Tarek Elrich and Travis Oughtred will hope to steer the ship in Mt Druitt’s direction tonight.
Standing in their way though will be a rejuvenated APIA outfit led by coach Danial Cummins.
The Inner West club have unearthed a younger brigade of players, something APIA commenced last season, with the likes of Nick Azzone and new faces Yianni Nicolaou, Jack Armson, Simon Nicholas and of course 17-year-old sensation Nathanael Blair – Cummins has a decent squad at his disposal.
Throw U.S. born marksman Jason Romero to that mix along with experienced NPL NSW Men’s campaigners Themba Muata Marlow, Michael Kouta and keeper Ivan Necevski and you’ve got yourself a decent side.
Live and exclusive on NPL.TV, this match is sure to fire up your Wednesday evening giving you that much needed football fix.
