The Bulls FC Academy and Wollongong Wolves were forced to share the points after ninety tense minutes of action on Saturday afternoon at Sydney United Sports Centre as the match finished 1-1.
Despite it only being Round Four the game felt like a must-win for either side, with the Bulls unable to register a victory in their first three games, whilst the Wolves were seeking redemption after a 4-0 loss to Marconi last week.
After dominating the opening exchanges, the visitors registered the first goal of the game through Josh Macdonald.
The lead was short-lived, however, as Sunday Yona neatly finished his chance and gave the Bulls a second life in the game.
Central Coast Mariners 0 v Blacktown City 1 at Pluim Park – Full Report
A resilient Central Coast Mariners have suffered defeat at the hands of Blacktown City, going down 1-0 at Pluim Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Mariners edged the first half but were punished in the 44th minute when Zac Zoricich was caught on the ball on the halfway line. Jak O’Brien collected the ball and ran the length of the half, finishing brilliantly into the bottom-left corner.
The defeat for the Mariners sees them winless to start the season, though the performance was undoubtedly their best of the campaign under new coach Abbas Saad against a strong Blacktown City side, who will take pride from their defensive resilience throughout the match.
Sutherland Sharks 1 v NWS Sprit FC 0 at Seymour Shaw Park – Full Report
The Sutherland Sharks recorded its first victory for the 2023 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s campaign defeating the NWS Spirit FC 1-0 in what was a tough Round 4 encounter on a wonderful Saturday summer afternoon at Seymour Shaw.
The previously unbeaten NWS Spirit FC side were dealt the damaging blow in the first half thanks to a glorious strike by Alexander Brown that gifted Damir Prodanovic’s troops their first precious three points of the season.
APIA Leichhardt FC 2 v Mt Druitt Town Rangers 0 at Lambert Park – Full Report
APIA Leichhardt have defeated Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC 2-0 at Lambert Park to remain undefeated and pick up their third win in a row in the NPL NSW Men’s competition.
The home side opened the scoring off a set piece in the 36th minute after piling on pressure, with Dakota Askew finishing emphatically after ghosting in at the back post.
Twenty minutes later, APIA added a second, with Diego Celis rounding out a sweeping counter attacking move, driven by Jack Stewart, with a well taken shot from just outside the box into the bottom right corner.
APIA had numerous chances to add a third, but couldn’t convert, nevertheless taking home the three points to make it three wins from three.
Marconi Stallions 2 v St George City 3 at Marconi Stadium – Full Report
St George City pulled off a statement victory in the National Premier Leagues NSW on Saturday night downing a high-flying Marconi Stallions 3-2 at Marconi Stadium.
Kosta Petratos and Marley Peterson had St George 2-0 up within 38 minutes before Jordan Swibel pulled one back for Marconi with five minutes of the first half to play.
Maki Petratos carried on his phenomenal goal-scoring form in the final minute of regular time to send the away side into the sheds with a 3-1 lead.
Liam Youlley’s goal in the 60th minute proved nothing more than a consolation for the home side as the newly promoted NPL NSW Men’s side claimed a memorable victory.
Manly United 2 v Sydney FC 1 at Cromer Park – Full Report
Brazilian star Bruno Mendes stole the show on his return to the National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s, striking late to help Manly United secure their first three points of the season with a 2-1 win over Sydney FC at Cromer Park on Saturday night.
Just days after returning to the country from his native Brazil, the Manly marksman popped up in the 87th minute to seal a dramatic come-from-behind victory over a spirited Sky Blues side.
Luka Smyth headed Sydney into the lead after 70 minutes but composed finishes from Harry McCarthy and Mendes ensured that Patrick Zwaanswijk would secure his first win in charge of Manly, to the delight of the home fans.
Sydney Olympic 0 v Rockdale Ilinden 2 at Belmore Sports Ground – Full Report
Rockdale Ilinden handed Sydney Olympic it’s first defeat of the 2023 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s campaign thanks to a brace from influential club captain Alec Urosevski with a 2-0 victory in the Match of the Round clash at the Belmore Sports Ground on Sunday.
Two of the most respected clubs in the NPL NSW Men’s competition were separated by a second half brace from Ursosevski who took the bull by the horns and changed the complexion of the game.
One of the NPL NSW Men’s deadliest strikers used all his experience and skill with his first goal before slotting home from the spot that sealed a huge three points to Paul Dee’s men.
Western Sydney Wanderers 3 v Sydney United 58 4 at Wanderers Football Park – Full Report
In one the games of the National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s season, Sydney United 58 scored three goals in 20 minutes after trailing 3-1, to take home maximum points in a heart-stopping 4-3 win against the Western Sydney Wanderers at the Wanderers Football Park on Sunday afternoon.
Marcus Younis opened the scoring before Chris Payne equalised two minutes before the break.
George Antonis and Nathaniel Blair put the home side 3-1 up as the Wanderers were cruising towards the three points.
Enter substitute Patrick Antelmi who bagged himself a quick brace before Devante Clut ended a memorable comeback with a 91st minute winner as United 58 stole the three points underneath the Wanderers’ nose.
