It’s a wondergoal that’s gone viral worldwide ever since the ball left Anthony Frangie’s foot following his audacious bicycle kick against Sydney Olympic overnight – the Mt Druitt Town Rangers star caused major scenes at Popondetta Park with ‘that goal’ which will go down in history as one of the greatest the National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s competition has ever seen.

Asked what the 25-year-old was thinking following the lead-up to the goal and whether he’d practiced this before, those that know Frangie well know that he’s had these special moments in his locker for quite some time.

“Mate I seen it and pictured Cristiano Ronaldo in the UEFA Champions League and was like why not – What’s the worst that can happen, and the rest is history.

“I used to practice it after training back at Hakoah Sydney City East until I done my shoulder doing it, so it’s been a while but happy it came out the way it did last night.”

After returning to the NPL NSW Men’s competition following a stint playing top tier football in Victoria, Frangie’s world literally turned upside down following his wonder goal which has been liked, shared and commented over a thousand times with the highlight set to break Football NSW social records.

“My phone hasn’t stopped since the goal, I’ve been overwhelmed by calls and messages, it’s crazy.”

The positive vibes and attention have come at a good time for the talented attacker following a tough year where Frangie lost one of his loved ones, his grandmother who was battling cancer.

“It’s been a hard year so far for me mate.

“My grandmother was fighting cancer all year and had passed away about a month ago so it took a hard toll on me, but I am happy to be back on my feet now and hopefully I can take off from here.

“I am surrounded by a good bunch of lads at Mt Druitt, and I think that we are starting to find chemistry with each other as the season progresses.”
