St George City secured the three points thanks to a 3-0 victory over the NWS Spirit FC in round 17 of the National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s competition played at Penshurst Park on Saturday.
It was Pedro Ferrari who scored early with a rocket from distance before Presley Ortiz put the game to bed midway through the second stanza of play with a somewhat more subtle goal and Maki Petratos then rounded out the scoring late in the encounter.
The three points were no more than the hosts deserved which was a welcome relief after a string of draws in recent weeks.

APIA Leichhardt took a massive step in putting some distance between their nearest National Premier League NSW Men’s Premiership rivals Rockdale Ilinden following a gritty 2-1 victory at the Ilinden Sports Centre in what was a superb top of the table clash played on Sunday.
APIA defender Anthony Sparacino got the visitors off to an ideal start as he headed APIA into the lead after nine minutes before the NPL NSW Men’s top goalscorer Alec Urosevski levelled the tie prior to half-time from the spot.
Jack Armson then stole the headlines as he continued his great 2023 form with a well taken goal six minutes from time that gave APIA a valuable away victory.
Blacktown City 0 v Western Sydney Wanderers 0 at Landen Stadium – Full Match Report and Highlights
Currently sitting in the relegation zone, the Western Sydney Wanderers held out Blacktown City to a 0-0 draw who played the majority of the second half with ten-men at Landen Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Apart from a Wanderers free-kick opportunity in the game’s opening minutes, neither team presented a real attacking threat to the two goalkeepers until the 25th minute.
In the 35th minute, Blacktown City thought they had finally broken the deadlock through a Lachlan Campbell header off the corner kick; however, the goal was disallowed.
The hosts were then down to ten-men as Adam Berry was given his second caution of the match and it become much tougher from there for the hosts.
After intercepting the ball of Teng Kuol in the 71st minute, Tyren Burnie gave Blacktown a wonderful counter-attacking opportunity. Linking up with Jak O’Brien and Burnie came within a whisker of taking the lead.
This was followed by a clear chance by the Wanderers that should have been taken in the 82nd minute. Nathanael Blair couldn’t control a header to get it on target in the game’s best chance after receiving a chip into the box from Frans Deli.
The moment summed up the game to perfection. Both teams had chances to take the lead and add a goal to the scorecard but couldn’t connect.
Central Coast Mariners 4 v Bulls FC Academy 2 at Pluim Park – Full Match Report and Highlights
The Central Coast Mariners secured a high scoring 4-2 victory over the Bulls FC Academy in a highly entertaining clash at Pluim Park on Sunday.
It was the Bulls who started on fire scoring two goals through Jesper Webber and Ali Auglah before the hosts pegged two back before half-time via Aydan Hammond and Jordan Segreto in a great comeback.
The Mariners would go on to score two more unanswered goals in the second half via Hammond once again and Lachlan Bayliss as Abbas Saad’s young troops celebrated a monumental victory.
