And despite it being the hosts who opened the scoring via a rocket from Fumoto Kamada in their Round Six clash at Penshurst Park, they were unable to go on with the job as Patrick Zwaanswijk’s Men responded in style, in what was truly an up and down encounter.

Sutherland Sharks 2 v Rockdale Ilinden 3 at Ilinden Sports Centre – Full Match Report and Highlights

Rockdale Ilinden claimed derby bragging rights following a stunning and epic 3-2 victory against the Sutherland Sharks at the Ilinden Sports Centre with Alec Urosevski clinching the victory in stoppage time via the spot on a hot and steamy Sunday evening.

The match was originally set for Seymour Shaw Park but was not ready due to the Sharks’ home pitch still going through an upgrade, it was Ilinden’s own palace that played host to a quality encounter between two quality outfits.

It was the hosts who started the stronger with Alec Urosevski netting the opening goal inside five minutes when reacting quickest to a rare Danijel Nizic fumble from a Hunter Elliott effort to slot home into the empty net.

However, a wonder strike via Peter Grozos in first-half stoppage time, a sublime dipping, swirling free-kick, levelled the tie at the break and Richard Shoueiki put the Sharks ahead on the restart after Ilinden had struck the bar inside 10-seconds of the kick-off.

Brendan Cholakian set up a grandstand finish with a late goal, a just reward for sustained pressure since going behind but the points wouldn’t be shared in a five-goal thriller under trying conditions with a late, late penalty awarded to Rockdale for talisman Urosevski to thump home and secure the victory.
