NWS Spirit FC 1 v Sutherland Sharks 0 at Christie Park – Match Report and Highlights
National Premier Leagues Men’s NSW League Leaders NWS Spirit FC were held to a 1-1 draw with Sutherland Sharks on Saturday night at Christie Park in a battling encounter.
Spirit gave Sutherland plenty to think about in the first half, creating ample chances to be comfortably in front but went into halftime with a one-goal lead courtesy of Jordan Perez.
The Sharks pulled themselves back into the contest in the second half, grabbing an equaliser through Richard Shoueiki to see the points shared.
Marconi 1 v Western Sydney Wanderers 0 at Marconi Stadium – Match Report and Highlights
The Marconi Stallions came out on top of their battle with the Western Sydney Wanderers, securing a 1-0 victory at Marconi Stadium on Saturday night.
After 87 minutes of end-to-end opportunities, the Stallions finally broke ahead in the final minutes of the match through an own goal from Wanderers defender Ricky Fransen following a Domenic Costanzo corner.
The one goal was all the hosts needed to secure a valuable three points at home in Round 8 of the National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s competition.
St George City 1 v St George FC 2 at Penshurst Park – Match Report and Highlights
A strong first half display helped the Sants emerge victorious in the St George derby as they earned a 2-1 victory at Penshurst Park.
Bai Antoniou proved a major difference in the clash as he bagged the opener and assisted Justin Poon’s goal, with St George City only managing to score once in the second period through Caio De Godoy.
Blacktown City 1 v Manly United 1 at Landen Stadium – Match Report and Highlights
A Max Pengelly header at the death stole a point for Manly United as they drew 1-1 with Blacktown City in tricky conditions at Landen Stadium.
Blacktown City led the match early with Mitch Mallia fifth goal of the season, taking a 1-0 advantage into half time.
Manly United waited until the last possible moment to level the scores as Max Pengelly’s header off a Harry Van der Saag cross was enough to snatch a point off Blacktown City.
APIA Leichhardt FC 4 v Rockdale Ilinden 3 at Lambert Park – Match Report and Highlights
APIA Leichhardt have emerged with a stunning 4-3 victory over Rockdale Ilinden in an early match of the season contender at Lambert Park on Sunday afternoon.
It was APIA who made the stronger start, with goals to Jack Stewart and Presley Ortiz putting the home side two goals up heading into halftime.
However, Rockdale began the second stanza with a bang, as talisman Alec Urosevski netted a sensational 23-minute hat-trick to give his side the ascendency away from home.
But it was to be APIA’s night, with an 86th minute equaliser from Josh Symons supplemented by a stunning strike from Seiya Kambayashi in stoppage time, as the home side took away a famous three points in front of a rapturous home crowd.
Wollongong Wolves 1 v Sydney United 58 2 – Ian McLennan Park – Match Report and Highlights
Sydney United 58 edged past Wollongong Wolves 2-1 on a rainy Sunday afternoon at Ian McLennan Park.
United 58 took the lead courtesy of Mason Wells midway through the half before Mario Shabow doubled their advantage later in the second period.
Nicholas Olsen scored in second-half stoppage time to halve the deficit for the Wolves, but it was too late to help the side find a route back into the game.
Sydney FC 0 v Mt Druitt Town Rangers 2 at Ilinden Sports Centre – Match Report and Highlights
Pedrinho and Thomas Lopez have helped deliver Mt Druitt Town Rangers their second win of the season after defeating Sydney FC 2-0 at Ilinden Sports Centre.
Despite the hosts dominating in the rain early throughout the first half, it was the Rangers who struck two nails in FC’s coffin.
Firstly, Pedrinho’s quality strike from distance found the back of the net then secondly through Lopez’s lethal turn and shoot from inside the box to earn the Rangers three precious points.
