National Premier Leagues 2025 Premiers NWS Spirit FC have confirmed the appointment of Sergio Malfara as their new Men’s First Grade Head Coach for the 2026 season, marking an exciting new chapter for the club.

Malfara, who replaces long serving outgoing coach David Perkovic, arrives with a wealth of experience, strong leadership qualities, and a proven ability to develop players and build high-performing teams. His coaching philosophy is seen as an ideal fit for Spirit FC’s culture and long-term vision, with the club confident he will play a major role in driving the men’s program forward in 2026 and beyond.

In addition to his extensive coaching background, Malfara currently serves as Head of Football and Sport at Mamre Anglican School. He has also contributed significantly within elite youth and senior football, having coached the Sydney FC U16s and previously serving as Technical Director at SD Raiders FC for eight years.

Supporting him in the new campaign will be a strong backroom team: Jason Rea and Louie Cordwell will join as Assistant Coaches, while Marwan Amin comes on board as Head of Strength and Conditioning.

Spirit FC fans can look forward to a new era as Malfara and his staff prepare to lead the reigning Premiers into the 2026 season with ambition, innovation, and renewed energy.
