The chase for the Premiership in the National Premier Leagues Men’s NSW competition appears to have become a three-horse race.

The battle for finals football is heating up, while the relegation fight has six teams separated by just six points.

Round 13 could prove unlucky for some and fortunate for others, with some exciting games ahead.

UNSW FC v Blacktown City
2pm, Saturday 2 May – The Village Green

UNSW FC host Blacktown City in a massive bottom-end clash, with 12th taking on 15th in a match both sides will see as a must-win fixture.
UNSW would have been disappointed to leave Belmore empty-handed last week, even though they played half the match with a man down. If they can bounce back here and secure three points, the gap to Blacktown will once more increase to six points.
Lachie Campbell and Grant Lynch both line up against their former employers, with a point to prove.

Blacktown City, sitting 15th, have endured a tough start and will be desperate to respond. Known for their resilience, they’ll be looking to stay organised and capitalise on any chances that come their way. They kept a clean sheet in last week’s win for only the second time this season — a major step in the right direction for Mark Crittenden’s side.

Sutherland Sharks v Marconi Stallions
4pm, Saturday 3 May – Seymour Shaw

Sutherland Sharks host Marconi Stallions in a key clash between one side pushing for consistency and the other chasing top spot.
The Sharks sit 7th and have shown they can compete with anyone on their day, but will be looking for greater stability across the full 90 minutes. After notching three straight wins, they have now gone three matches without a victory (including Round 5 of the Australia Cup).

Marconi arrive in 3rd and firmly in the title conversation, built on strong structure and efficient attacking play. They’ll aim to impose themselves early and control the tempo, though they know Sutherland at home can be a tricky assignment.
Damian Tsekenis leads the league’s scoring charts with 10 goals and comes into this clash full of confidence.

SD Raiders v APIA Leichhardt
5pm, Saturday 2 May – Ernie Smith Reserve

SD Raiders host APIA Leichhardt in a tough assignment for the home side. The Raiders sit 10th and are searching for consistency after a mixed start to the season, though they have lost just once in their last six matches and appear to be finding their feet in the top tier.

APIA arrive in 2nd and firmly in the title hunt, showing strong attacking cohesion and the ability to control games for long periods. They’ll aim to assert themselves early and maintain pressure throughout. Having dug deep for victory last weekend, they’ve also shown they can grind out results when required.

The Raiders will need to be disciplined and clinical to stay in touch, but APIA’s form makes them clear favourites heading into this clash.

NWS Spirit v Manly United
5:30pm, Saturday 2 May – Christie Park

NWS Spirit host Manly United in a local derby of sorts on Saturday evening.
Spirit have surprised many with their positive start to the season, with Serge Malfara adapting well to life as a first-grade head coach. They sit 6th and will be looking to build further momentum.

Manly United, in 13th, have struggled for consistency and will be desperate to turn performances into points. They’ll need to remain compact defensively and take their chances when they arise. This young side has plenty of potential but requires time to develop and gain experience.

On form and ladder position, Spirit hold the advantage, but Manly have the ability to trouble their opponents if they remain disciplined.

St George FC v Western Sydney Wanderers
6:30pm, Saturday 2 May – Barton Park

St George FC host Western Sydney Wanderers in a clash between two sides in need of a lift, with both arriving under pressure after extended winless runs.
St George sit 8th but are in the midst of a difficult period, having lost their last six matches as they search for a way to rediscover their early-season form.

The Wanderers sit 11th and are also struggling, winless in their last five. Despite this, they’ve shown glimpses of competitiveness and will view this as a genuine opportunity to break their drought against a similarly out-of-form opponent.

With both teams low on confidence, this shapes as a tense and unpredictable contest where momentum could shift quickly. Whoever settles first and takes their chances may claim a much-needed three points.

St George City v Sydney FC
7:15pm, Saturday 2 May – Penshurst Park

St George City host Sydney FC in a matchup between a struggling home side and a mid-table visitor aiming to build consistency.
St George City sit 14th and will be focused on tightening up defensively after a difficult start to the season. They haven’t won since 14 March and, with teams below them picking up points, will be looking over their shoulder.

Sydney FC arrive in 9th and have had a mixed campaign, but possess enough quality to control periods of play and create chances in the final third. They’ll be expected to take the initiative but face an opponent that can be dangerous at home.

Sydney United v Sydney Olympic
2:30pm, Sunday 3 May – Sydney United Sports Centre

Sydney United host Sydney Olympic in a top-versus-bottom clash on Sunday.
United have been the standout side this season, built on strong organisation, attacking efficiency, and consistency across 90 minutes. They did suffer their first defeat of the campaign last weekend despite creating a host of chances they were unable to convert.

Sydney Olympic, meanwhile, sit at the bottom of the table and are searching for a spark after a difficult run. They’ll need to remain disciplined defensively and make the most of limited opportunities. Their win last week will have boosted confidence, particularly after showing character to recover from conceding late.

On form and ladder position, Sydney United are clear favourites, though they’ll be wary of an opponent capable of causing an upset.

Wollongong Wolves v Rockdale Ilinden
5pm, Sunday 3 May – Macedonia Park

Wollongong Wolves host Rockdale Ilinden in one of the most intriguing clashes of the round, with 4th taking on 5th in a tight battle near the top of the table.
The Wolves arrive in strong form, unbeaten since February, built on defensive stability and the ability to grind out results. They sent a strong message last weekend by defeating previously unbeaten Sydney United away from home.

Rockdale Ilinden sit just behind them in 5th and will view this as a major test of their top-four credentials. They’ve been competitive throughout the season and have the attacking quality to trouble any side, but will need to be sharp against a Wolves team that concedes very little.

With both sides pushing for finals positioning, this shapes as a high-quality, tactical contest where margins are likely to be slim and discipline could prove decisive.
