Round 20 Preview – NPL Men’s NSW

Round 20 of the NPL Men’s NSW campaign promises to continue what has already been an exhilarating 2026 season so far, with crucial battles unfolding right across the state as finals spots and ladder positions begin to take shape.
Western Sydney Wanderers FC vs Sutherland Sharks FC
3:00pm, Saturday 20 June – Wanderers Football Park
Western Sydney Wanderers open Round 20 when they host Sutherland Sharks at Wanderers Football Park in a crucial clash in the race for finals football.
The Wanderers currently sit seventh on the ladder, just one point behind the Sharks, who occupy the final finals position. With so little separating the sides, this is a true six-pointer in the context of the season.
Sutherland recently saw their three-match winning streak come to an end, going down 2-1 to Blacktown City in Round 19, a result they will be eager to respond to immediately.
The Wanderers, meanwhile, come into the fixture off a hard-fought draw, picking up a point against St George City thanks to a late Jesse Cameron equaliser.
With the winner set to break into the top six, this promises to be a fiery, high-intensity contest at Wanderers Football Park.
Sydney Olympic FC vs Rockdale Ilinden FC
5:00pm, Saturday 20 June – Belmore Sports Ground
Sydney Olympic return home to Belmore Sports Ground to take on Rockdale Ilinden in a heavyweight Saturday evening clash.
After enjoying a positive run of three results, Olympic suffered a setback in Round 19, going down 3-0 to NWS Spirit. Sitting bottom of the ladder by six points, the historic NPL Men’s NSW club will be desperate to start turning performances into points to avoid being cut adrift.
However, they may see this as an opportunity against a Rockdale side that has also struggled for consistency, managing just one win in their last five matches.
The visitors will be motivated to return to winning ways and avoid drifting further from the top six, currently sitting in fifth place, just three points clear of the finals cut-off zone.
Manly United FC vs St George FC
5:00pm, Saturday 20 June – Cromer Park
Manly United host St George FC in what shapes as an intriguing contest at Cromer Park.
St George come into the match full of confidence after a massive 4-1 victory over UNSW FC, recording their first win since Round Six. Goals from Rocco Smith, Evangelo Souris, Kaidyn Wright and Christopher McStay secured a vital result and lifted them clear of danger at the wrong end of the table.
They will be hoping that result sparks a turnaround in form as they look to build momentum against a Manly side who have been inconsistent in recent weeks, recording two draws, two defeats and one win in their last five matches.
With Manly and St George sitting 13th and 14th respectively and separated by just one point, this is a pivotal fixture in the fight to avoid the bottom two.
St George City FA vs NWS Spirit FC
7:15pm, Saturday 20 June – Penshurst Park
St George City host NWS Spirit in a key Saturday night fixture with both sides chasing important points.
The home side have been in strong recent form, losing just once in their last five matches. Back-to-back draws against Western Sydney Wanderers and Sydney Olympic have highlighted their resilience, and they will be aiming to continue that momentum on home soil.
NWS Spirit, meanwhile, returned to form in Round 19 with a crucial 3-0 win over Sydney Olympic, snapping a difficult run of four straight defeats.
Still sitting just two points outside the top six, Spirit will be looking to build consistency at the right time of the season as they push for finals football.
Sydney United 58 FC vs SD Raiders FC
2:30pm, Sunday 21 June – Sydney United Sports Centre
Sydney United 58 host in-form SD Raiders at Sydney United Sports Centre in a key Sunday afternoon clash.
The Raiders arrive full of confidence, currently on a five-match unbeaten run, which includes a statement 1-0 victory over Rockdale Ilinden in Round 19. Sitting just three points outside the finals places, they will be eager to continue their strong debut-season form in the NPL Men’s NSW competition.
Sydney United 58, meanwhile, have slipped four points off top spot following a 1-1 draw with Manly United. They will be desperate to return to winning ways as they look to close the gap on APIA Leichhardt at the summit.
Wollongong Wolves FC vs Sydney FC
3:00pm, Sunday 21 June – Macedonia Park
Wollongong Wolves host Sydney FC at Macedonia Park on Sunday afternoon in a clash featuring two sides in contrasting recent form.
After a strong unbeaten run earlier in the season, the Wolves have hit a rough patch, suffering three consecutive defeats. Despite this, they remain well positioned in the top six and will be aiming to quickly halt the slide.
Sydney FC arrive in confident mood after earning impressive recent results, including a vital win over NWS Spirit and a hard-fought 0-0 draw away to Marconi Stallions.
The Sky Blues will be looking to continue their upward push and break into the top six, sitting just one point outside the finals positions.
Blacktown City FC vs APIA Leichhardt FC
3:00pm, Sunday 21 June – Landen Stadium
Blacktown City host APIA Leichhardt in a blockbuster Sunday afternoon clash at Landen Stadium.
The NPL Men’s NSW heavyweights have endured a challenging 2026 campaign so far, currently sitting second-bottom, but boosted their survival hopes with a crucial 2-1 win over Sutherland Sharks in Round 19.
APIA, meanwhile, have enjoyed a contrasting season at the top end of the table. A professional 2-0 win over Wollongong Wolves, courtesy of Cameron Fong and Presley Ortiz, saw them move two points clear at the top after Marconi dropped points.
Franco Parisi’s side will be determined to maintain momentum and secure a fourth straight win to strengthen their position at the summit heading into Round 21.
Marconi Stallions FC vs UNSW FC
3:00pm, Sunday 21 June – Marconi Stadium
Marconi Stallions conclude Round 20 when they host UNSW FC at Marconi Stadium.
The Stallions remain unbeaten in their last 10 matches, underlining their consistency across the 2026 season. However, with three draws in their last five outings, they have recently been overtaken at the top of the ladder and will be determined to return to winning ways.
UNSW FC come into the fixture on a mixed run of form. After an impressive three-match winning streak, they have struggled in recent weeks, most recently falling 4-1 to St George FC.
They will be aiming to reset and respond with a strong performance, with points at a premium as the middle and lower sections of the table remain tightly congested.
