Round 13 Review – NPL Men’s NSW

Let’s take a look back at all the action from Round 13 of the National Premier Leagues NSW competition.
Sutherland Sharks 2 v Marconi 4 @ Seymour Shaw
Marconi produced one of the comebacks of the season, overturning a two-goal deficit to defeat Sutherland Sharks 4-2 at Seymour Shaw Park. A stunning first-half double from Richard Shoueiki had the hosts in control, but Marconi responded through Anton Mlinaric and Franco Maya before taking over in the second half. Teng Kuol’s go-ahead goal and a late finish from Damien Tsekenis sealed a remarkable turnaround in a six-goal thriller.
SD Raiders 2 v APIA 3 @ Ernie Smith Reserve
APIA Leichhardt FC secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory over SD Raiders FC in a high-quality clash at Ernie Smith Reserve. After taking an early lead through Oscar Gonzalez, APIA found themselves trailing at halftime before mounting a second-half comeback. Gonzalez completed his brace to level the scores, before Jack Stewart’s superb late strike proved the difference in a match full of momentum swings and standout moments.
UNSW FC 2 v Blacktown City 2 @ The Village Green
UNSW FC and Blacktown City played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at The Village Green, with Jyden Harb’s 82nd-minute equaliser rescuing a point for the hosts. The match exploded into life early with two goals inside the opening minutes, while Blacktown edged ahead before halftime through Mitchell Mallia. UNSW pushed hard in the second half and were rewarded late, with Harb grabbing his second of the night to cap off a strong attacking performance in a result that could have gone either way.
NWS Spirit FC 2 v Manly United 1 @ Christie Park
NWS Spirit FC held off a late Manly United fightback to secure a hard-earned 2-1 win at Christie Park. Ben Duroux opened the scoring with his first goal for the club before Aiden Mostofi doubled the lead with a stunning long-range effort. Manly reduced the deficit through Sam Griffiths to set up a tense finish, but Spirit showed composure in the closing stages to claim all three points in a hard-fought contest.
St George FC 0 v WSW 4 @ Barton Park
Western Sydney Wanderers produced a dominant 4-0 away victory over St George FC at Barton Park, with the visitors in control from the opening minutes. Early goals from Jai Rose and Atiya Waraga set the tone before Oscar Morrison delivered a spectacular long-range strike from inside his own half to extend the lead. A late penalty from Awan Lual sealed a comprehensive win as the Wanderers snapped their winless run in emphatic style.
St George City 0 v Sydney FC 5 @ Penshurst Park
Sydney FC delivered a commanding 5-0 win over St George City FA at Penshurst Park, taking full advantage of an early red card to control the contest from start to finish. The Sky Blues produced a clinical attacking display with Marin France, Joe Lacey and Mitchell Glasson all among the scorers, while Taye Hedley capped a standout performance with a late strike. The result sees Sydney FC close in on the top six after a dominant and professional performance.
Wollongong Wolves 2 v Rockdale Ilinden 2 @ Macedonia Park
Wollongong Wolves were denied all three points in dramatic fashion after surrendering a two-goal lead in a thrilling 2-2 draw with Rockdale Ilinden at Macedonia Park. First-half goals from Flynn Madden and a deflected effort put the hosts in control, but Rockdale mounted a spirited second-half comeback, with Ollie Wiggin reducing the deficit before Moudi Najjar struck deep into stoppage time to snatch a late equaliser and cap off a relentless fightback.
Sydney United 58 3 v Sydney Olympic 0 @ Sydney United Sports Centre
Sydney United 58 returned to the top of the table with a commanding 3-0 victory over rivals Sydney Olympic at Sydney United Sports Centre. Mason Wells opened the scoring in the first half before Carlos De Oliveira sealed the result with a late brace, as United 58 controlled proceedings and produced a strong response to last week’s defeat in a statement derby performance.
