Round 14 Preview – NPL Men’s NSW

Round 14 of the NPL Men’s NSW competition will be headlined by the biggest fixture of the 2026 season to date, as second-place APIA Leichhardt take on league leaders Sydney United 58 in a blockbuster clash with first place on the line.
Manly United FC vs UNSW FC
7:30pm, Friday 8 May – Cromer Park
Manly United will open Round 14 when they host UNSW FC at Cromer Park.
The sides from the North and East will go head-to-head in an intriguing 13th vs 12th clash, with both teams eager to climb the ladder.
Manly comes into this match with two wins, one draw, and two losses in their last five, although those losses have come in their last two games, including a narrow defeat to NWS Spirit in their most recent outing.
UNSW also have two losses to their name in the same period, alongside a win and two draws, with their latest result an entertaining 2-2 draw against Blacktown City, highlighted by a brace from the in-form Jyden Harb.
With both sides desperate for points to push towards mid-table, expect an intense and energetic contest to kick off the weekend.
Western Sydney Wanderers FC vs Wollongong Wolves FC
3:00pm, Saturday 9 May – Wanderers Football Park
Saturday’s action begins with Western Sydney Wanderers taking on an in-form Wollongong Wolves side.
The Wanderers secured a statement 4-0 win over St George FC last weekend, with goals from Jai Rose, Atiya Waraga and Awan Lual, alongside an incredible long-range strike from Oscar Morrison.
It was a reward for several strong performances, and they will take confidence into this clash.
However, they face one of the competition’s form teams, with Wollongong unbeaten since Round Four and currently sitting fourth.
The Wolves will be aiming to continue their impressive run and keep pace with the league’s frontrunners.
SD Raiders FC vs NWS Spirit FC
5:00pm, Saturday 9 May – Ernie Smith Reserve
SD Raiders host NWS Spirit in what shapes as a compelling contest at Ernie Smith Reserve.
The Raiders pushed reigning champions APIA Leichhardt all the way in a narrow defeat last week, continuing a strong run of performances.
They now face a quality NWS Spirit side who remain inside the top six following a 2-1 win over Manly United, where Benjamin Duroux scored his maiden First Grade goal.
Spirit will be aiming to strengthen their finals position, while the Raiders look to turn strong performances into points.
APIA Leichhardt FC vs Sydney United 58 FC
5:15pm, Saturday 9 May – Lambert Park
In the Round 14 Match of the Round, the top two go head-to-head at Lambert Park with first place on the line.
APIA Leichhardt have been in sensational form, dropping points just once since Round Four, and now sit just two points behind Sydney United 58.
This presents a huge opportunity for the reigning champions to make a statement at home and take control of the competition.
Sydney United 58 responded strongly to their first loss of the season, defeating Sydney Olympic last weekend thanks to braces from Carlos De Oliveira and Mason Wells.
Those attacking threats will again be key, while APIA will look to Jack Stewart and 18-year-old Oscar Gonzalez, who has scored three goals in his last three matches.
Expect a high-quality, attacking contest packed with talent across the park — a true must-watch clash.
Marconi Stallions FC vs Sydney Olympic FC
7:00pm, Saturday 9 May – Marconi Stadium
Marconi Stallions, currently sitting third, will be ready to capitalise on any slip-ups from the top two.
They come into this fixture off a remarkable comeback win, overturning a two-goal deficit against Sutherland Sharks to prevail 4-2, with goals from Anton Mlinaric, Franco Maya, Teng Kuol and Damian Tsekenis.
Now just one point off second, Marconi will be pushing for another strong result, but face a Sydney Olympic side desperate to climb off the bottom of the table.
St George City FA vs Sutherland Sharks FC
7:15pm, Saturday 9 May – Penshurst Park
St George City will be looking to respond when they host Sutherland Sharks at Penshurst Park.
Their last outing resulted in a heavy defeat to Sydney FC, impacted by an early red card to Benjamin Berry, who will miss this fixture.
Without a win since Round Six, the hosts will be motivated to turn things around.
Sutherland Sharks are also searching for form, winless in their last three matches and now four points outside the top six.
Both sides have plenty on the line in this important clash.
Blacktown City FC vs St George FC
3:00pm, Sunday 10 May – Landen Stadium
Blacktown City host St George FC, who enter a new chapter following a coaching change, with Brian ‘Bomber’ Brown stepping in.
The visitors will be aiming to halt a difficult run of results and rediscover the defensive solidity that defined their early season form.
Blacktown, meanwhile, have found momentum, losing just once in their last five matches and building confidence following recent strong performances.
They will be eager to secure back-to-back home wins and continue climbing the ladder.
Rockdale Ilinden FC vs Sydney FC
3:00pm, Sunday 10 May – Rockdale Ilinden Sports Centre
Round 14 concludes with Rockdale Ilinden hosting an in-form Sydney FC.
Rockdale have had a mixed run by their standards but showed resilience last week with a late comeback against Wollongong Wolves, courtesy of goals from Ollie Wiggin and Moudi Najjar.
Currently sitting 12 points off first, they will need a win to stay within reach of the Premiership race.
Sydney FC, however, arrive in strong form, unbeaten in their last five and coming off an emphatic 5-0 win over St George City.
Just outside the top six, the Sky Blues will be determined to continue their push up the ladder in what shapes as a fitting end to a huge weekend.
